We need a visa to enter Oman, whether it is a visit, a work permit or a residency visa.

Visit visa is for people staying only for a short term or those who do not yet qualify for a work or residency visa. The procedure is fairly straightforward but the fee varies.  If you get a job in Oman, you need a work visa to enter Oman. Residence Visa will be stamped in your passport once you arrive in Oman. There are two types of residence visa- one for employment and other for residence only. Normally you and your employer will apply for a residence visa at the Oman embassy in you country of origin before you leave for Oman. Your sponsor should organize everything related to your visa, including payment. Work visa: If you get a job while still in your home country, you can enter Oman on a work visa to start the job while residency visa process is till underway.

Labour card issued by the Labour Department, is legal document certifying the employment status of an individual. To work in Oman, you have to have valid labour clearance, which should be renewed every two years. You can only apply for you Labour clearance once you have residency.
