The most popular way is by car. If you don’t own a car, you can hire one or make use of the many taxis available. There is a reasonable public bus service, but because of the heat very few people walk or cycle. Motorcycles are used only by those few brave souls prepared to face the traffic. There are no trains or trams. hour’s flight.

The highways are of an excellent standard and international traffic symbols are in use. Major roads usually have two to four lanes, with intermittent roundabouts (traffic circles) at busy intersections. If you are new to the roads, be aware that drivers on the inside lane have priority over those entering the roundabout, so don’t be surprised if someone jumps from the inside lane to the exit, cutting you off in the process. Further into the interior, the quality of roads is reduced to graded tracks that often seem to branch out in every direction. These tracks are often bumpy, hence the popularity of 4WDs.
