Road signs are almost always signposted both in English and Arabic, as are street and house numbers. However, people tend to rely on landmarks rather than road names to give directions.
Landmarks are usually shops, hotels, petrol stations or distinctive buildings. To confuse matters further, places are sometimes referred to by a nearby landmark, rather than their real name.
At the back of this book you’ll find a comprehensive map section with fascinating satellite image maps. They are easy to use and should help you head off in the right direction. |
