Qurm National Park, the largest and the famous park is one of the major attractions of this area. The park includes a large boating lake, a fountain and the sultan’s rose garden and many mind-blowing pathways to roam around. The winter season brings more people to the parks in the evening mainly; some strolling, some reclining and some enjoying a picnic mood.
The environment friendliness of Oman is very clear in its activities. The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Environment has established a Mangrove nursery park. This park has provided thousands of mangrove seedlings. This has helped for transplanting mangroves in other parts of the country. This is done for stimulating the mangrove trees growth. Mangrove abundant areas are good for fish breeding and also it provides home to many bird species.
Qurm Heights Park is perched on the cliffs in Qurm. Beautiful grassy lawn is increasing the beauty of the park surrounded with shady trees, plants and shrubs. The park also includes a collection of stone benches. Also a collection of Roman style pillars can be seen here.
In terms of beaches, Qurm is famous for the Beach Promenade, which stretches from the Hyatt Regency to the Muscat InterContinental. Majan Beach, located nearby in Qurm Heights, is ideal for snorkellers as it has superb coral reefs. On good days you can see parrot fish, rays and turtles. The beach is equipped with manmade sunshades and barbecue pits.
