Oman’s health sector is good and should be able to get adequate treatment for most conditions. However, if required you require regular medication for something, it is good idea to stock up atleast a year’s supply before leaving you home country.
No health certificates are required for visitors to Oman, except for people who have recently been in a yellow fever infected area.
Oman climate can be harsh, particularly in summer. Drink plenty of water and cover up when out in the sun. Try to avoid too much exposure to sun in between 10.00 and 15.00 and use appropriate factor of sunscreen –sunburn, heat stroke and heat exhaustion can be unpleasant and in some cases, dangerous.
If you need medical assistance you may have to rely on friends, family or even taxi to get you to hospital since ambulance services are limited. In case of life threatening emergencies you can dial 999 through out Oman and the Royal Oman Police will arrange appropriate transport. |
