In the small town center, Omani women in flowing black head scarves mind store counters. Omani men in intricately embroidered hats dine at simple restaurants often co-owned and staffed by migrants from India. Main food offers delicious, sweetened avocado juice and flavorful maqbous, a rice and meat dish similar to Indian biriyani. Khasab, an eclectic port, is the peninsula’s largest town and capital, with about 19,000 residents. Khasab’s culture is no different from Omani culture in particular. But, Khasab culture is unique in its own due to geographical location.
