   Accommodation

The main town of Hilf, with its 8,000 residents, has a hotel and some shops. Housing is adequate, but primitive. Goats are kept in stockades. The village is probably here because there is drinkable groundwater, which is abstracted from this well. The fishing village of Hiql on the west of Masirah is little more than a collection of shelters in a bay fringed by white sands. Along side Masirah and sur is - Tiwi is a small fishing settlement about 30km up the coast from Sur, situated in a little cove between two of the most beautiful and picturesque wadis in the area – Wadi Tiwi and Wadi Shab. These verdant green oases are a must-see for anyone visiting the area for their crystal clear pools and lush vegetation including palm and banana plantations. The residents of Tiwi are spread across nine small villages and there are endless opportunities for walking and exploring. In Wadi Shab you can start your walk with a trip across the water courtesy of a small boat operated by locals. Further along the wadi you can swim through pools and access a cave that has a waterfall inside. Tiwi Beach, also known as the White Sands Beach, is located on the way to Fins and is a tranquil spot to rest for a while.
